"Great reconstruction of the Revolutionary site historical site. Museum is located in the right wing of the building shared with Purple Heart Honor Roll Museum. Basement room with historical cannons is one of the highlights. There are several picnic tables next to the museum, spare at least half-hour to walk the grounds (might be more if you stop for one of the skill demos). Ample parking lot."

"The New Windsor Cantonment is the site of the Continental Army’s final camp at the end of the Revolutionary War. The site is very close to the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor and they share a building. It is best to go to both places together.
At the cantonment you can see a few reconstructed buildings that capture the idea of what life was like for soldiers in Continental Army. On some weekends there are historical reenactors at the buildings. One of the reenactors did a great presentation on medicine and surgery during the 18th century. There is also a small museum which contains artifacts from the Army; most notably cannons. The site and the museum are very easy to get around. Overall, this is an overlooked but interesting and significant historic site. The site is completely free so you can’t go wrong. Call ahead or check the website for hours of operation."
