What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Nyquist-Harcourt Wildlife Sanctuary offers pleasant, flat trails ideal for a relaxed walk and birdwatching, particularly along the river. However, the lack of maps once inside and the absence of basic facilities like restrooms are noted drawbacks. Some also found the parking area unsettling.
"It may be a timing/weather issue, but given all the nice hiking in the area, this place did not feel like a good use of time on a short trip. I'm sure it's lovely for people with lots of time in the area to do a walk. There's a community garden at the start, which you can walk through and some paths go around the water. I'm guessing it looks nicer in the summer/when there are clear blue skies!"

"Three of us started out walking the rail trail on a cold February day. The trail had lots of ice on it so we got off at Huguenot Street where we found a path into Nyquist-Harcourt Sanctuary. We had no idea what this was. After crossing a nice wooden bridge we were faced with a couple of signs giving us trail names. Our mistake was not taking a pic of the map that was located at the start of the trail.
There are many trails here and no maps once inside the park. We walked Toms Trail to Connie’s Way which was a great loop to walk.
Next time we will plan more time to explore more of the trails and enter from the main entrance. The trails are well maintained and easy to walk on. Signs give the name of each trail which crosses the park. A few benches are located along the trails.
There are no bathrooms, picnic tables or garbage cans in the park."
