What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Riverside Historic District for its rich history and charming atmosphere, particularly highlighting engaging events like the Ghost Walk and Heritage Homes Tour. While the self-guided tours are appreciated for their accessibility, some find the ticketing for events restrictive and suggest improved directional signage for easier navigation within the downtown area.
"We attended the annual ghost walk put on by the New Bern historical society and it was great! The actors did a great job of sharing history and also adding in a little spookiness. This is definitely a family friendly event. The only negatives we experienced were that the tickets are for the full weekend (giving you time to get to each stop since it’s almost impossible to do it all in one night), but you can’t revisit any of the stops more than once. I don’t think that’s really truly a “ticket good for the whole weekend” if this is the case. Also, it would be helpful, if possible to have more volunteers in major intersections offering directions bc some of the downtown streets are a bit confusing, even with a map. Overall it was fun and we would do it again!"
