What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Hermitage Hotel is celebrated for its stunning historic architecture, luxurious ambiance, and exceptional service, making it a top-tier destination in Nashville. While many guests praise the elegant rooms and attentive staff, some have noted occasional service inconsistencies and found the Afternoon Tea to be pricey for the portion sizes.
"Went to High Tea at the Hermitage Hotel after many years of wanting to attend! They only host it on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. It is a bit pricey given what you get from the tea. I paid more here than I did at very well known high-tea spots in London! For $165 a person, we each got a pot of tea, and a tower of small sandwiches, scones and desserts. The scones were delicious but I was disappointed at how few sandwiches there were to eat! We all left still hungry afterwards. In August they dedicated tea to the Women’s Suffrage movement and had a women dressed in historic garments and storytelling throughout the tea, which was a nice touch. The room were tea was in was very bare. I was expecting more out of this historic hotel! The entry way was beautiful and the staff was very nice. Valet is free if you are doing the tea!"

"Very upsetting! We came, and were so excited to try the 1910 happy hours. We arrived at 5:00pm and started in the grand lobby. We ordered the happy hour (champagne and a caviar deviled egg), around 5:05. At 5:30, with no water, champagne, or egg, we asked for water. At 5:45, after the bartender left the lobby (and didn’t come back), we decided to leave and go down the road to a bar that provides excellent service and products. The bartender this shift did not check on us (or other guests) the whole time we were there, and provided not great customer service. Do not recommend as far as happy hour goes.
We will be back to try again, but this has set a terrible tone for us. We were so excited! Living down the street, we thought this could be a nice, upscale spot to get drinks / snacks, but this visit was extremely underwhelming and disappointing."

"Stayed here for business this past week. The rooms were nice (older but cozy and lux) and the service received from the bellhop team and in room housekeeping team was good. However, there were several experiences that made my time here not so enjoyable. If I had not been here on business, and had paid for this hotel myself, I would have been extremely disappointed.
1. Room location. If you get room 718. GOOD LUCK. This was my room and it is right by the housekeeping closet. The closet door is slammed constantly throughout the day and all throughout the night, and due to the heaviness of the doors you will be woken up with each slam. At one point in the night I walked out of my room and begged them to stop slamming the door. It stopped for maybe an hour but then started back up. I was here Monday though Thursday and my sleep was HORRIBLE. Which does not make for a fun work day. This alone will be the reason I do not return to this hotel.
2. Front desk. On day two of no sleep, i went down to the front desk to ask for a different room. The front desk attendant (male) was very passive in my complaints and simply said “we have no other rooms available of your type” I asked the price to upgrade to a suite, and he smartly said “we cannot take a suite from a paying guest to accommodate you” this immediately frustrated me because that was not what I asked. He also made no attempt to try and help my situation, and I was left in my room with slamming doors and no sleep for the rest of the week. I would also like to note that the hotel website showed availability for my room type for the remainder of my stay.
3. Service in the Cafe. The cafe downstairs is open until 9 each night with pizza service. After a long work day I got in late at 845 and ran to the cafe to try to get a quick pizza. The worker (male) told me that they were closed and that I could not get food. Frustrated, i told him that the sign says service until 9 and asked if he could accommodate me. Luckily a manager walked in at that time, and he then agreed to give me dinner. BUT the inital dismissal of service 15 minted before restaurant close time really rubbed me the wrong way.
Overall, you would think a hotel of this standard and PRICE would have all of the issues mentioned above sorted out, but sadly they do not."
