What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
St. Matthew's Thrift Store is a highly-regarded destination in Naples, praised for its vast selection of quality items and excellent prices, often featuring donations from affluent residents. While shoppers enjoy the well-organized store and helpful staff, some have experienced difficulties with the donation process and note the store's exclusive credit card payment policy.
"The parking lot here is huge, you shouldn't have a problem looking for parking. There was a veteran parking up in the front. This thrift store is huge inside. If you want to donate, there's an option to do that outside. Once inside, you will have no problem looking for what you want as it is well organized with a name plate on top. The bathroom was clean, which speaks the volume of their attention to detail. I couldn't count how many staff members were because there were so many. Everyone was helpful and courteous. I would definitely recommend coming here even if you're not looking to buy. You never know what you will come across."

"This is one of my favorite thrift stores in all of Naples! St. Matthew’s House Boutique flagship store is an absolute gem. Every single time that we visit Naples, this is the first store that we visit. The clothing, shoes, home decor, furniture, outdoor furniture, lamps, rugs, and fine jewelry are top of the line. The items are well priced and sometimes they have a certain percentage off. I have found some interesting pieces at a good price. This thrift store is for a very amazing charity so I feel good buying here!"

"As a donation pickup this was a nightmare. And it cost us a lot of money to donate things of immense value. Disorganized, everything needed to be photographed and itemized and then the photos didn’t even go through and we went through the process twice. They ended up taking a couple bags we paid 40$ for - stuff we could have dropped off to Goodwill ourselves. Didn’t even get a donation receipt. Personalities at the door, not friendly.
Habitat for Humanity then picked up donations for free- tons of furniture , up and down stairs - a few weeks later. I would recommend looking elsewhere these days if you want to make charitable donations."

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the store itself is family-friendly, be mindful of the donation process if you're looking to declutter. Some parents have found the donation drop-off to be a bit chaotic, so if you're short on time or patience, you might consider other donation options. However, the thrill of finding unique items at bargain prices can make it a rewarding experience for the whole family.
💰 Budget-Conscious Shoppers
Remember the crucial detail: only credit cards are accepted for payment. Make sure you have your card ready to snag those amazing deals. While the donation process might be a bit tricky, the shopping experience for budget-conscious individuals is highly rewarding, offering significant savings and the chance to find unique treasures.
👗 Fashionistas & Trendsetters
Be prepared for a treasure hunt! The best items go fast, so visiting regularly or during less busy times can give you an edge. The store's organization helps, but a keen eye for quality and style is essential. Remember to bring your credit card, as this is the only accepted form of payment. You might just find that perfect statement piece or a vintage gem to elevate your wardrobe.

The 'Thrifting Where the Rich Donate' Phenomenon
This phenomenon means that shoppers can often find premium brands and unique pieces that might be out of reach in traditional retail settings. From Gianni beanies to leather blazers and designer dresses, the potential for scoring a bargain is high. However, it also means that the store can be quite popular, and the best items tend to go quickly. Visiting during off-peak hours or being a regular patron can increase your chances of snagging these coveted finds.
While the shopping experience is often lauded, it's important to note that the donation process has received mixed reviews. Some donors have found it disorganized and have had issues with obtaining proper receipts. This contrast between the exciting shopping experience and the challenging donation process is a recurring theme in community discussions.
Navigating the Shopping Experience
The store offers a vast array of merchandise, from clothing and shoes to home decor, furniture, and even fine jewelry. This extensive selection, combined with competitive pricing, makes it a go-to destination for many. Reviewers frequently highlight the high quality of items available, often noting that they find 'top of the line' goods. This is attributed to the store's reputation for receiving donations from affluent individuals, as previously mentioned.
While the shopping experience is generally positive, a key point to remember is the payment policy. St. Matthew's Thrift Store exclusively accepts credit cards for purchases. This means shoppers must have a card with them, as cash is not an option for buying items. This policy has been a point of disappointment for some visitors who prefer or only have cash on hand.
