What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Waabooz Run Golf Course offers a unique, walkable par-61 layout that's great for short game practice. However, recent reviews consistently point to significant issues with turf and sand trap conditions, leading many to question its value for the price. While some appreciate the potential for fast play and the exercise, others strongly advise waiting for course improvements.
"This is such a great course to walk! 18 par-three holes (there's a couple par 4s if you play the blues). As a lady, I get to use my driver a few times, but I also get to drive the green with a 6 iron! Less intimidating, and easier to walk in a day. Best summer exercise plan!!"
Amee Schmidt
"The greens were in terrible condition, sand traps were full of debris and stones. Worst course I've played on in years. We arrived for our tee time of 8:05, fifteen minutes early, and waited until 8:15 for someone to check us in. We requested separate carts because we wanted to social distance and were denied because they said they wouldn't have enough carts for the day. When we finished our round there were 11 carts still parked and unused, we only wanted 1 extra and I said I would pay extra $. When I went in to Express my concerns there wasn't a soul in the pro shop. I waited for over 5 minutes and no one showed up. For $40 for 18 holes definitely not worth the money. We will never be back and for the money I suggest you look to the many other courses within 20-30 minutes from there."
Chris Kelly
"First played this course back in 1967 and sad that they are now struggling with terrible turf conditions due to irrigation system failure during a very challenging summer season. It will take a long time to restore turf conditions on this fun and well designed short game course, but I hope they get it done sooner than later!"

👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider bringing snacks and drinks, as amenities might be limited. The potential for fast play on weekdays could also be a plus, ensuring kids don't get too bored. Look for family deals or coupons to make the outing more affordable.
💰 Budget-Conscious Golfers
However, it's crucial to weigh the cost against the current course conditions. If the greens and bunkers are in poor shape, even a discounted price might not feel worthwhile. It's recommended to call the course directly to inquire about the latest conditions before booking to ensure you're getting good value for your money.

Navigating Course Conditions
It's crucial for potential visitors to check for the latest course updates before booking. If you're considering a round, be prepared for a potentially subpar experience, and prioritize looking for significant discounts or coupons to mitigate the cost. The hope is that the course can recover, but it may take a considerable amount of time.
Understanding the Value Proposition
However, the perceived value is heavily impacted by the course's condition. While a coupon can bring the price down to around $22 for 18 holes with a cart, some still feel this is too high given the reported issues. The lack of consistent maintenance on greens and bunkers is a recurring complaint. If you prioritize a pristine playing surface, you might find better value elsewhere. But if you're looking for a quick, walkable round and can secure a good deal, it might still offer some enjoyment, provided you manage your expectations regarding course quality.
