"Bit of a late review but this was a great all-day winter hike with friends! We parked at the Rockport boat launch and walked across the ice. The hike up was steep in a few places but nice overall. The fire tower at the top looks sketchy but held 4 of us with ease and is the only real way to get a good view. We hiked down the back side of the mountain which was MUCH steeper, especially with knee to waist high snow but we got down and walked around the mountain and got some great views of the cliff and ice formations."

"The 'easier' bridle trail was definitely harder than it looked so I can't even imagine taking the other trail. However, the views were magnificent. Especially at the halfway view point. Unless you have no fear of heights, I wouldn't recommend going further up for the Fire tower. I went all the way up and could only spend about 3 minutes at the top of the fire tower. The top is very cramped and was making me uneasy. So, I quickly took pictures and made my way back down. Another person at the top was also having a hard time with the daunting descent of the tower. For me, the halfway point was perfect enough. I did love observing all the water erosion on the rocks along the trails which made for a good history/geology lesson for my step-daughter. Bring hiking boots as it can be excessively muddy."

"Great hike and view. Trail ran up the Indian trail and it was hard but not terrible. If you are afraid of heights I recommend taking the other trail. My reason for four stars is that the trail was extremely muddy and wet. Overall fun trail. I would do it again."
