Many highlight the historical significance and the variety of activities, from hiking to photography. "Very large park. Too much to see in one day. This was my second time and i saw things i didn't before. Stroll gardens, see the fudogs, look for hidden places, read signs about the history of the gardens, or just hike in the woods. SO many birds. Beautiful shade gardens as well, and hiking under the trees, so it's great when it's hot! The history is interesting. And, try going at sunset, but you can't linger--- the park closes at sunset, but its a pretty place to SEE the sun set."

"Allerton is always a beautiful place no matter when you go. I would recommend May for peak flowers and fall for beautiful leaves in the wooded areas.
There are a few wheelchair accessible places. Features walking trails both paved and unpaved. Mansion with reflecting pool. Live music during the summer. Popular place for weddings.
The sunken garden, the walled garden, the fu dogs, the sunsinger, the musicians are all treasures that can be found here.
Also, you can stay overnight at the mansion and the groundskeepers cottage, but we've never done that."
