Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Jewish Museum Milwaukee as a 'hidden gem' that punches above its weight, offering profound insights into Jewish history and culture through engaging exhibits. Many appreciate the affordable admission and the museum's ability to connect local heritage with broader historical narratives, including the Holocaust. While some find the security measures a reminder of difficult histories, the overall experience is described as educational and essential.

"I’ve been visiting the Jewish Museum for about a year and a half now. I drive in from Chicago and add other activities to take advantage of my time in Milwaukee. I always learned so much from the Jewish Museum, it’s a great place."

"Absolutely fantastic visit. Loved the telling of Jewish history through a Milwaukee lens. I had completely forgot Golda Meir grew up her childhood in Milwaukee. Currently the museum is highlighting the Danish people's assistance of protecting and then evacuating many of the Jews from the German Holocaust.
Though I am a Gentile, I would make a thoughtful visit to this museum essential for any one who either lives or visits Milwaukee."

Aldersgate Lives

"This museum is a hidden gem on the east side of Milwaukee. It's small but punches way above its weight.

The permanent exhibit mostly centers around how the Jewish people came to Milwaukee in the early years. You then wind your way through a time-line that takes you through how Jews contributed to the growth of Milwaukee.

The tough part is reading about the holocaust. The exhibit is scary, and for good reason. We should never forget.

The museum then has a traveling exhibit that they curate. This exhibit is in the front of the building as you walk in. They always do a good job to make sure this exhibit is relevant to what's happening in real life.

It's depressing that you have to be buzzed in, as it's a secure building. It's cheap to get tickets. Only 9 bucks!

Check out this museum. It's a Milwaukee icon."
