What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the informative and engaging guided tours, highlighting the guides' knowledge and storytelling. The plantation's grounds and archaeological sites are also appreciated for offering a broader historical perspective. While some find the interior of the house limited in terms of accessible areas, the acknowledgment of slavery history is noted as educational and important.
"The Interior of the Plantation Mansion, Cemetary and other archeological sites around the site is great and worth the price in my opinion! However, they don't allow pictures inside, didn't get enough time to view the other signs (my tour was around 2 hours) and did honestly feel a bit empty since there aren't a lot of areas to enter or read. Our guide was great and quite informative, even though I did notice small historic mistakes, she did a good job explaining the plantations historic items and slave history (she even let us pick apples 🍎). Other than that, it is absolutely recommend to visit in the Cedar Creek National Historical Park and offers a unique insight into Plantation life."

"A very interesting place rich in history and character. Elle, our guide, was just wonderful!! Definitely worth the stop and the 1-hr+ tour."

"Lovely area. We attended the Shenandoah Sips event and had a great time. There was music, crafts and libations (brews, wines, meads, and spirits). We also did the self guided tour of the house. The house is beautiful and acknowledged the history of slavery very clearly. While a bit unsettling, it was a very educational event. The guides throughout the house were very kind and even more informative."
