"I came here August 1st to apply for my daughter's passport. It was mailed out August 2nd. Two weeks later it was not in the computer system for the passport agency so I called City Hall. They said it can take a few days to get there but they would track it for me anyway. Turns out my package has been to multiple places except where it needs to get. I asked them why they haven't been tracking this package? It's full of sensitive information? They stated that their short staffed and they claimed to have been tracking it. They did not know that the package had not made it to the facility and was floating around until I called them and requested a status. Now suddenly they know about the package. My daughter's original birth certificate, photo, and private documents have been bouncing around between a variety of states, cities, and post offices, within two weeks it's been about to five or six locations. City Hall cannot give me the tracking number and I understand why. But all they say that they're doing for me is tracking the package and they can't do anything else. I am paying for a passport service which means I am paying a facility to ship the passport documents and ensure that it makes it to work supposed to make it. That includes tracking and making sure the sensitive information is safe
They stated that the US department of State would reimburse me for her birth certificate if it gets lost and that it's not their fault the package has not been delivered.
The US department of State which I spoke to stated that they're not responsible for reimbursing me for the birth certificate because the documents never made it to their hands.
City Hall is pointing fingers and putting the blame on everybody else rather than themselves. If they would have been tracking the package from the beginning like they claimed that they do, then they would have realized that it went to three or four cities before making it back to Miami and sitting there. If I would not have called God knows where this package would be right now. It has been a week since I called to see where this package is and it still has not made it to where it needs to go.
I understand this is USPS and not that facility who's responsible for getting the package to where it needs to go but as a facility that you pay for the service they should be again, tracking and ensuring that it makes it to where it needs to make it within the time period. Not two weeks later. Or at least request a recall on the package and resend it.
This facility claimed that they all track the packages and yet the one person I've been dealing with is going on vacation and stated that nobody else can track this package for me that I have to wait until Monday. I appreciate what she has done so far but considering this is sensitive information they were responsible for they should be having somebody else assist while she is not there. I wonder if the other six people who's information was in this lost package are aware that their information is floating around somewhere and has not made it to the facility at least as a 4:00 p.m. today?
This facility has also had passport documents stolen previously. Unless you want your documents lost in the mail or stolen I would look other places to apply.
The only positive thing I have to say about this is that they have helped me when I have called to track the package but that's about as far as it goes because they refuse to claim responsibility for a service that they claim to provide."
