What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests rave about The Peabody Memphis's historic charm, the iconic Duck March, and its prime downtown location. The staff is frequently praised for being first-class, kind, and responsive. However, some visitors have noted issues with room temperature, noise from the street or construction, and the distance to the parking garage.
"The hotel is lovely.
However the fact that they silently comply with the various carriage vendors who use their coveted curbside to park & solicit customers but — all the while never water those poor horses is criminal.
We arrived at the hotel seeing several carriages vendors, they had used those animals in several long carriage rides but parked them curbside outside the Peabody and as we spent many more hours dining & walking…. Those vendors had not watered those poor animals!!! And they admitted it while they grew angrier & aggressive when we kindly appealed to them to water those poor animals.
Yes, while the management of the Peabody say they “can’t do a thing those are city vendors” - that simply condones the animal abuse. Silence is compliance!
They could easily exert a request that if these vendors want to avail themselves to the highly desirable Peabody curbside & their customers, then they need to provide good, humane care for these poor creatures.
How horrible that these vendors abuse these animals…. And that The Peabody closes their eyes to it. Shame."

"It's a wonderful place to stay. The staff is first class. Very kind and responsive. The rooms are very clean. The duck show is worth the stay. The location is very walkable to many sites and restaurants. The hotel can be noisy due to street and construction. Ask to be placed in a quiet part of the hotel and you should be fine."

"Right the heart of Memphis and has the famous duck walk! You can actually see the duck walk at the second floor but if you want pictures up close as they come out the elevators, then come early (an hour or more before) to get a good seat. Otherwise, you can just wait until all the busy entry is done and take pictures of the ducks as they enjoy their time at the fountain.
We ate at the restaurant near the lobby and it was great food and quiet. Very different from the lobby restaurant where we couldn’t even hear each other.
Overall a good experience and worth a try if you’re in Memphis."
