What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Molokini Crater is widely praised for its incredible water clarity and unique volcanic setting, offering a memorable snorkeling and diving experience. While some visitors find the marine life less vibrant than anticipated, the sheer visibility and geological wonder make it a highly recommended destination. Crowds and the type of tour chosen can significantly impact the overall enjoyment.
"Great spot to snorkel. How often to do you get to say I snorkeled in the ramanent remains of a volcano? It's badass. The fish here are ugly as hell tho. All black and brown.. nothing special. But hey it's the steam hole of a historic volcano. So enjoy yourselves and live to tell the story another day
For snorkeling, we used the Calypso ship. Triple Decker with two water slides with buffet style breakfast and lunch. Not bad. Crowded for sure and full of kids. If you want a more romantic experience go with a semi private chapter of smaller groups without the kids."

"Diving and Snorkeling is good along the coast of Maui, but at the crater the water is SO MUCH clearer and blue! The variety of sights to see under the water is awesome! But I'm sure it changes daily. We actually saw more sea turtles nearer coastline of Maui. But I highly recommend the Molikini Crater."

"Definitely recommend snorkeling at Molokini. Just one of those things you have to do. The reef isn’t as colorful as you would expect but it is a lot of hard coral. Also it is sad a lot of people don’t use reef safe sunscreen when out there and I think tour companies do a bad job at explaining why it matters that you do."
