What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Matlacha Bridge for its beautiful scenery and peaceful 'island time' atmosphere, especially highlighting the stunning sunsets. While fishing is a popular activity with a variety of species available, some find the fish population inconsistent. The bridge's resilience and the community's recovery efforts after hurricanes are also noted positively.
"One of my most used fishing spots, and its unfortunate that I have to rate it a 3. The scenery is beautiful, the air is crisp, but the fish are definitely not plentiful. I've fished here for at least a grand total of 10 hours and have still yet to even pull something out of the water. I blamed my inadequate fishing abilities at first, but after moving literally 1 miles down the road, I was catching fish like there's no tomorrow. Honest recommendation would be to come here to catch a sunset, or enjoy a nice view of the bay, thats about it"

"Very beautiful place and your on island time when you cross the bridge into Matlacha Florida and if you have been there you should know what I’m talking about."

"I've been coming here since I was a kid (I'm born and raised here) the fishing is usually pretty good and you can take some really good shots of sunsets here. There's a bait shop within walking distance of the bridge (Seven Seas Bait and Tackle) to get live shrimp or pinfish. You can catch a variety of different fish here from snapper, snook, trout, redfish, black drum, catfish, tarpon and even shark. After they updated the bridge a few years back it's a lot nicer here, they added restrooms ect. Definitely a nice spot to come fish."
