"For the past eight years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing my annual Santa mini sessions at the William Root House Museum in Marietta Square. This historic property is the perfect backdrop, and I’ve also enjoyed photographing families and capturing the beauty of the flowers in their garden. The staff is always welcoming, the grounds are well cared for, and the museum offers so much local history. Their gift shop is full of unique items and is worth stopping by after a visit. If you’re looking for a beautiful, historic location in Marietta for photos, events, or simply to enjoy the gardens and museum, the William Root House is a gem."

"Was incredibly clean and interactive. Lady at the ticket counter was so helpful and friendly. The house itself was such an amazing historical example of houses from the period. My girlfriend (a funeral director and mortician) really enjoyed the Victorian-Era funeral decorations and setup."

"My family took advantage of the free admission (as part of the Second Sunday program) and went to the William Root house. There’s a lot to see even though the ground and houses are not very large. If you are into Marietta or Civil War era history, then this is a great little place to visit. The museum has recently been updated with a lot of nice improvements. They have touch screens in most of the exhibits and a few small things for little kids to enjoy. Their gift shop was also very cute. I would definitely recommend a visit!
FYI:
-They do have a ramp and an outside elevator to get into the main levels of the buildings, but I did not see anything to help those with wheelchairs or strollers get to the second stories of these historic buildings.
-there is a parking lot, but it is rather small"
