What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the park's well-maintained grounds, helpful visitor center staff, and the informative historical displays, especially at the Illinois Monument. The opportunity to hike and observe wildlife is a significant draw. However, parking can be a major issue on busy days, and restroom availability is limited in some areas.
"It’s a national park and well maintained. Staff in the visitor center are very helpful, and maps are abundant. There is a 35 minute video that runs at :15 past each hour that can be viewed via the website, but is worth seeing in the theater. The hike up the mountain is short, but steep, and you can drive up if needed. Numerous hikes throughout the site, and on my visit (a Wednesday) I walked about 7 miles and encountered numerous day hikers and deer. I also felt very safe and will go again. Great for out of town guests who want to feel some north Georgia. Long hikers will want to bring water and snacks- though both available in the visitor’s center."

Lance Ellis
"This is a great park access point for a quick dog walk with plenty of shade on hot weather days. Parking fills up fast early mornings on the weekends."
