What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Presidio County Courthouse's phenomenal craftsmanship and historical architecture, particularly its intricate woodwork and impressive stairwells. The accessible dome offers stunning panoramic views of Marfa, making it a highly recommended stop for its historical ambiance and visual appeal. Some reviewers note the building's small size and creaky floors, contributing to its 'frozen in time' charm.
"The craftsmanship is phenomenal! If you have an appreciation for historical architecture, this might be a place to see. There is a little bit of history here-- as you walk through the hallways you get the feeling what it it might have been like to be here 100+ years ago. The original chairs in the hallway make you wonder about who sat there-- attorneys, famous lawmen, victims, and of course, criminals! But first and foremost, the wood work and craftsmanship is great. The stairwells and other examples of carpentry is impressive! :-)"

"I came to visit the courthouse as I like old things and history. The architecture is amazing and the woodwork is in and of itself nice to look at. I walked and and went up three flights of stairs to an area they had open with pictures of the courthouse that were very old. There was another flight of stairs that led me up to the top which has an amazing 360 degree view. Well worth the time."

"I'm from Los Angeles, CA so visiting Marfa, TX was a huge culture shock to a city boy like myself! The courthouse (along with the rest of the town) is frozen in time, all wood interior, small, and the floors creek when you walk inside. There's huge trees just outside the courthouse that drop pecans! I cracked one open and ate it, yuuumm! Best part about the courthouse is they allow you to walk up to the very top to oversee all of Marfa! When you first walk into the courthouse take a left into the first door and theres a small room where people register their cars, in here theres license plates plastered on the wall and an old bank vault. The staff is awesome and friendly and let me take photos in there."
