What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the well-maintained trails and stunning views of Lake Chelan and the surrounding mountains. The area is praised for its versatility, offering excellent Nordic skiing in winter and great hiking and biking in summer. Some find the permit fee a bit high for a national forest area.
"Great trails for cross county skiing. Mostly in the trees but a couple openings, including at Purte View on the green track loop. Grooming is done by a local Nordic ski club which does an excsllent job. You can rent XC skis at the bottom of the hill at the echo valley resort for ~$20/day. Beware though, they close at 4pm! Usage of the trails requires paying $15 per person instead of per vehicle, a bit on the pricy side for a national forest area, but basically the same price as WA "sno-parks" for two people. The road up was covered in snow on 12/30, but a 2WD car with no chains (all seasons tires) made it all the way up to the upper parking lot and back down just fine."

"A super wide variety of trails for Mountain biking and gravel, hiking and running and some for horse riding. I don’t think the trails are suitable for downhill. Not steep enough.
The last landscape is really various and has so many aspects. Really worth it to go. All trails are in top shape, no trash, no obstacles."

"This was a great hike with some exceptional views. Trails are well maintained and marked. Difficulty levels on them must be for skiing as we found hiking them with young children fairly easy."
