What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Maliko Gulch Lookout for its stunning ocean views, the exciting surf action, and the incredible opportunity to see sea turtles up close. While parking can be a challenge and the winds are strong, most find it a worthwhile and memorable stop on the Road to Hana.
"This is the first stop on the itinerary of Road to Hana trip. There are various multi level free parking lots, where you can park and get different views. The beach has smaller strip to walk, as this is a major surf beach and there are surfers in water at almost all times. The other part of the beach is also a resting spot for the sea turtles which is also closed off to public. The spot is extremely windy but gets great views. The parking is busy but it keeps on getting emptied with most of cars moving out to continue on their trip to Hana. Highly recommended stop"

"Great spot to watch the surfing action. If you walk down the hill to the bathroom area, there is a nice lookout to see the green sea turtles on their corner of the beach. Parking was a challenge when we went but mainly because there was a major windsurfing championship taking place."
Andrew Hayman
"This is a beautiful place to see the ocean hitting the beach. But the star of the show are the turtles laying on the beach. Follow the signs and leave them alone. But they’re amazing and huge. Initially I thought they were rocks but then I zoomed in and realized they were turtles. There were also chickens and walking around which was pretty cool.
There are portable restrooms here. Overall it’s a great place for a nice view and some cool sights and breezes."
