Reviews Summary

Makahiku Falls is appreciated as a beautiful stop along the Pipiwai Trail, offering a pleasant view and a chance to observe the changing forest. While not a destination in itself, it's a valued part of the overall hiking experience, with visitors enjoying the scenic beauty and the journey through the lush environment. Some note the viewpoint is distant, but still find it impressive.

"It's nice, but not impressive. A quick stop and part of the sights on the trail."

Luis Duckworth

"Fascinating to see the change in forest and vegetation as you ascend to the falls. Visitor centre parking is Credit Card only, washrooms available too."

Darren Woollard

"(Review as of: 12/14/2022)
You can't reach the base of this fall unless you decided to jump over the railing (potentially to your death), else you will be viewing the fall from off the Pipiwai Trail. It is a nice relaxing view and a nice side stop to rest a bit.

There isn't much in the area except this side stop before you continue towards the Waimoku Falls (at the end of the Trail).

As you get to Makahiku, the trail starts to incline a bit, nothing to hard, just stay on the trail and watch for the roots and uneven base. Enjoy the shady areas and pace yourself on the way to Waimoku Falls.

Very enjoyable and a nice short break for all visitors."
