What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests are captivated by the Craddock Terry Hotel's unique shoe factory heritage and spacious, comfortable rooms. However, some visitors have experienced issues with noise, room cleanliness, and challenging navigation due to road closures.
"There are not enough words to describe how well the CTH team knocked our wedding weekend OUT OF THE PARK!!!
For starters, the hotel manager Lindsay Land truly is one of the best people we’ve met throughout our 2 years of planning. She was responsive, helpful, thoughtful and reassuring with all details leading up to the big day. In addition, she even helped coordinate our rehearsal dinner with the Shoemakers restaurant connected to the property.
The rooms were enormous and multiple guests commented on the amazing feel and architecture of the hotel. The fact that it was in an old shoe factory - something that was unknown to us at the time or choosing this place - was truly extraordinary. The ladies at the front desk all went above and beyond to give information, answer questions and make requests happen.
Whether it’s for a special event, a weekend getaway or just to try somewhere new… the Craddock Terry Hotel will go to great lengths to keep you happy.
Other notable amenities: complimentary breakfast delivered to your door, the most comfortable beds we’ve ever stayed in, spacious rooms, a gift and snack shop, and a huge downstairs patio outside of 1 of their 2 restaurants. 5/5 is NOT enough for this establishment!!! Thank you for playing such a large part in making our wedding weekend the best! ❤️ The Catricala’s"

"If you’re looking to use the event space for a wedding or other event I would recommend! The event manager is very organized, super friendly, and helpful. We did not book the venue unfortunately, due to other reasons not related to the venue. It is a pretty venue and feels very clean. The hotel itself has many friendly employees, and is very well maintained."

"This is NOT the place to stay if you are a light sleeper.
PROS:
Unique shoe-themed property nodding to its past as the 5th largest shoe company in the world. Several (not all) front desk staff were polite and helpful. Large, spacious room and huge bathroom with an exceptionally large shower. At check-in, staff gives you a small vial of essential oil for the in-room diffuser, which also works as a background noise machine with bird song, babbling brook, ocean waves, and other nature sounds. Complimentary continental breakfast delivered to the room—just put your preferences in the shoebox provided. Small refrigerator with two complimentary waters. Plenty of towels, ample counter space, and a makeup mirror. Plenty of outdoor seating. About an hour after check-in, I got a text from the front desk checking on me and asking if I needed anything, which saved me a call.
CONS:
My interactions with front desk staff member Lola/Lolita were consistently frustrating. When I arrived, the street in front of the hotel was blocked by a bulldozer and I couldn’t find my way in. I called the front desk for guidance; she said, “I don’t know. I’m not from here. And I don’t feel comfortable giving you directions because I’m not from here.” I told her exactly where I was—on Main Street in front of Commerce Street looking at the building—and she just told me to “follow the detour,” but there was no detour or signage showing how to reach the hotel. When I asked if my stay was connected to my Marriott Bonvoy account, she said yes, but my monthly statement showed it wasn’t. Bonvoy customer service later confirmed it was not connected, and it also wasn’t reflected on my hotel receipt, which I discovered after returning home.
At one point, I needed to confirm details about my reservation. Lolita asked me to state my room number aloud with another guest present, which I felt was a safety concern. I waited until the guest left and gave her the number. About 15 seconds later, she asked me again. I repeated it more slowly to be clear, and her tone afterward suggested I was being rude or difficult, even though I was simply repeating what she asked. This, combined with her general unhelpfulness, made further communication uncomfortable and unfruitful.
The hotel was hard to get to, with no signage on Main Street. I had to drive through several “road closed ahead” signs to reach it. If you’re stuck in the same situation: make a right on 12th Street and another right at the bottom of the hill; that takes you directly to the front entrance.
No microwave in the room.
Windows are absolutely filthy—cobwebs and dead bugs plastered all over the panes.
No outlets on the nightstands; you have to reach behind them to plug devices into the wall. There’s an outlet and USB on the desk lamp, but not enough for the lamp, the diffuser, and my phone, so I had to plug my phone in elsewhere. Thank goodness for a long cord, but it was a trip hazard.
Thin walls—I could hear people talking, toilets flushing, footsteps overhead, and the walls shake every time a nearby door closes.
My comforter was stained, though housekeeping came quickly to change it.
Dusty light fixtures.
Handprints on the bathroom windows from previous guests.
In-room iron leaks terribly from the bottom.
Extremely close to an active railway; not uncommon to hear trains blowing their horns, sometimes after 11:30 p.m.
Windows are both filthy and thin. My room overlooked the parking lot, and I could hear and feel whenever a car engine started.
Weak shower pressure and no hand nozzle, so I had to do the “rotisserie chicken thing” to rinse off.
Bath mat is heavy and absorbent, but the grip doesn’t stick to the stone floor, making it a slip hazard."
