What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Marvin Braude Bike Trail for its stunning coastal views, well-maintained path, and access to vibrant beach towns. It's a highly recommended activity for experiencing the LA coastline. However, some find the pedestrian traffic and occasional speed limit enforcement in certain areas to be minor annoyances.
"This is definitely a great bike path. It is safe, well maintained, and stretches about 10 to 15 miles one way. If you are looking for a path that runs right along the beach, this is the one. The views are amazing... beach, ocean, piers, shops, homes. I have biked here a handful of times already and I do not think I will get tired of it anytime soon.
The only downside is the stretch between Redondo and Manhattan where the speed limit is 8 mph. I doubt anyone is seriously enforcing that, but there are a lot of walkers on that part. Most are pretty good about staying to the side, but there are always a few who end up blocking the whole path. It can be annoying, but if you are going slow anyway, it is manageable.
You can also keep going beyond that. The path eventually ends around Marina del Rey, but it connects to the streets for a bit and then picks back up near Venice. From there, you can ride all the way to Santa Monica. I plan to do that sometime, just need a buddy to go with me."

The trail is a fantastic way to experience the Southern California coast, offering a blend of natural beauty, urban energy, and recreational opportunities.
Navigating Crowds and Etiquette on The Strand
Venice Beach is particularly known for its high volume of both cyclists and pedestrians, creating a lively but sometimes congested atmosphere. Visitors recommend being extra vigilant in this area and prepared for slower speeds. If you prefer a less crowded experience, consider exploring the northern sections towards Will Rogers State Beach or the southern stretches beyond Redondo Beach, which tend to be quieter.
Respecting the shared space is key to a positive experience for everyone. This includes not blocking the path, keeping pets on leashes where required, and being mindful of noise levels. By following these simple etiquette guidelines, you can ensure a pleasant and safe ride for yourself and fellow trail users.
