"Another one of those beautiful, obscure southern California gems, Averill Park is a neighborhood treasure in San Pedro. It has trees, generous lawns, a pond and stream, BBQ areas and picnic tables with scenic pathways through the hillside and canyon. Nice place for a walk to observe the local wildlife and waterfowl. No parking lot, but street parking is ample. There are public restrooms available. I have added this place to my favorite places for an afternoon stroll..."

"We love this park with all the old twisted trees, hills, pathways, bridge & pond! We were married under the gazebo here in 2008. Restrooms very clean. The pond needs much work tho, with stagnant water, the ducks didn't even go in. Also, what happened to the rose garden? All roses bushes look dead for lack of water? Slightly disappointed in the grounds upkeep. Averill Park is located in a very nice neighborhood, you would assume the park's pond & roses would be kept up. Park & Rec charges a fee to rent the gazebo, so if you have a wedding, we would suggest you have 2 ushers standing by, cause all the quinceanera parties try to cut in your space for free."
