"Nice sandbar located right off Coquina beach and close to waterfront restaurants like Mar Vista. Fun time, but can get packed for sure, the currents can get pretty strong here as well, so be sure to anchor in tight and it wouldn't hurt to bring along a 2nd anchor as well."

"What a beautiful beach ☀️ sand bar, fish 🐟 school, crabs 🦀 and plenty of sunny relaxing beach🌴☀️🌊🏝"
Mia
"Anchored here a few days ago (12/27/21) and it is beautiful. There are two anchorage areas. One has some semi permanent boats and is a bit more protected. The other is between the cable area and the sandbar that everyone plays at. We chose the latter. It does get a bit of roll from some of the boats going a bit fast, but it makes a great social and fun time."

Navigating the Waters: Boating to Jewfish Key
There are generally two main anchorage areas. One is a bit more protected and often hosts semi-permanent boats, offering a calmer experience. The other is located between a cable area and the main social hub of the sandbar. Many visitors choose the latter for its lively atmosphere. Regardless of your choice, remember that currents can be strong, and boat traffic can create wakes.
Pro Tip: To ensure a stable and enjoyable experience, especially if you plan to spend a significant amount of time anchored, consider using a second anchor. This provides extra security against shifting winds and currents. Always adhere to boating safety regulations and be mindful of wake laws to protect the environment and other boaters.
The Sandbar Experience: More Than Just Sand
Beyond the natural scenery, the sandbar is a popular gathering place for boaters. It's common to see numerous boats anchored together, with people socializing, playing music, and enjoying the sunny Florida weather. This creates a lively, festive atmosphere, especially on weekends. However, this popularity also means it can get quite crowded, so if you prefer a more tranquil experience, aiming for a weekday visit or arriving early is highly recommended.
While the sandbar itself offers no facilities, its proximity to Coquina Beach and nearby waterfront restaurants like Mar Vista adds to its appeal. This allows visitors to easily transition from a day on the water to enjoying a meal or drink at a local establishment. Remember to pack essentials like sunscreen, water, and snacks, and always practice leave-no-trace principles by packing out all your trash.
