"I visited this park when it was high tide, so the only visible sandy beach area was actually in the canoe club next door, and it was very small, like 10 feet wide. Rest of the bank was either filled with native plants, or with volcanic rocks. The river that ran by the beach is kind of smelly and muddy, so swimming is definitely not advisable. A few homeless looking people with their belongings were scattered around the park sleeping, so a visitor like me look out of place."

"I think this was the black sand beach. It was like no beach I have been on. It looked like pulverized lava rock the size of brown sand. There were a number of moderate sized rocks. There was a rocked off area. While I was there two green turtles just below the rock area in the water. After I left, one of them came out of the water on to the beach.
There was a small mostly jewelry stand. There was a covered picnic area and bathrooms."
