What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Tugaloo State Park is praised for its beautiful lakeside location and convenient amenities for boaters, with many visitors enjoying the clean facilities and friendly staff. However, some campers find the campsites narrow and cramped, and yurt guests have noted potential cleanliness issues and challenging access.
"We stayed at Campsite #7 and had such a wonderful experience! The location was perfect — peaceful with a beautiful lakeside view. The restrooms were very clean, and the hot showers were a huge plus after a day outdoors.
The lady at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful, which made check-in smooth and welcoming. We truly enjoyed our time here and will definitely recommend this state park to friends and family.
We’ll absolutely be back again!"

"As state parks go, and I've stayed at a few now, this one is average. I think of I had a boat this would be 5 stars. But for an average traveler like myself, this was only an ok place. I did walk the long loop (4 miles) which was nice. But beyond that, the campground accommodate about a hundred campers who all come for the lake on the weekend. Again, not a bad thing if that's what you want to do. All of the accommodations were good and the rangers were all wonderful. Just not the perfect spot for a traveler without a boat."

"We stayed here for 3 nights last weekend in Yurt 6. The yurt was as expected and in my opinion 6 has the best views and a large beach area. The yurt has a picnic table, grill and firepit. The yurt also has ac and heat and a ceiling fan. The mattresses in 6 need to be replaced because none were comfortable and seemed to have a hole in the middle. I also wish they would include a mini fridge in the yurts. Something important to note is the yurts here are walk in and not park at. All the yurts are down a large hill especially 6. They do provide wheelbarrows for transporting your gear but getting it back up the hill can be challenging. The bathhouse was nice with hot showers available. The yurt could’ve been a little cleaner also especially when paying over $100 a night. Large spider webs everywhere including hanging from the ceiling fan. Mattress covers looked worn and stained. This is a nice park. Ice and firewood available at the store."
