Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Pyramid Canyon Day Use Area for its clean facilities, beautiful river and dam views, and well-maintained trails. The convenience of amenities like outlets and restrooms, along with the scenic Heritage Trail, makes it a popular spot for day trips and short stays. Some caution is advised regarding road conditions for backcountry access.

"Nice clean day use area with outlets at some of the pavilions, water fountains, doggie poop bags, and bathrooms. Thank you to the friendly maintenance guy and camp host!

We spent 2 weeks boondocking off Stonehouse Rd (approved backcountry road #14 on the Lake Mead National Recreation Area map), which is just across (west) Davis Dam Rd and walking distance to the Day Use area, Lake Mohave, the Colorado River, and even Laughlin and Bullhead City on the 2-mile Heritage Trail sidewalk that runs along the river. Stonehouse Rd is NOT recommended for 2WD. Our perfect camping spot was crushed granite and hard packed, but the road in, which is also a washout, is soft sand. We got stuck and needed an off road recovery truck to pull us out. The short drive from the highway to the dam is paved. The road over the dam is closed, but you can still walk across. We swam in Ninety Foot Cove in November. It was cold but refreshing. Would highly recommend anyone visiting Laughlin or Bullhead City to make a trip to the dam. Hikers check out the hills to the west of the dam...great views of the river and the lake."
