What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Lake Mendocino as the best lake in the county, highlighting its clean waters, family-friendly swimming areas, and abundant recreational activities like kayaking and hiking. While some note limited services and potential campsite closures due to staffing, the natural beauty and overall experience are highly rated, making it an underappreciated gem for outdoor enthusiasts.
"Kid friendly swimming with numerous group and individual pavilions around the lakeshore. Water was clean and comfortable temperature. Site 61 was level and large, great choice if you need full sun for solar. Large picnic table. Close to beach and bathrooms, water just a few steps away."
Shannan Peters
"Most campsites are closed usually but hiking trails are open. Theres many miles of trail all around the lake. Great views in some areas."
Edgar Gomez
"Best lake in mendocino county. Named after the county because of this. Sailing on this lake is fun when the wind is blowing. When it isnt a kayak or paddleboard are also fun. Camping, picnic areas, day use areas and family areas with playgrounds. This lake is underappreciated for its time. See it while you can. Run by corp of engineers who can at any time close areas off for any reason. Being under budget areas remain closed because of staffing. This affects all services but its still, the best lake in mendocino county. 5 stars."
