What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests rave about the unique, rustic charm and abundant activities at Fort Wilderness, from holiday decorations to campfire sing-alongs. The convenience of the Magic Kingdom water taxi and the dog-friendly policy are major draws. However, some find campsite pricing high and certain RV sites to be tight, with occasional issues like mosquitos or exposed plumbing.
"Site 232
Evidently loops 100-300 are the oldest sites in the campground and are smaller than the newer ones. Our site was a little narrow, but we didn’t have a problem extending the awning and using our camp chairs. The parking site is a concrete pad, level, clean and in great shape. Large pea gravel area at the back of the site with picnic table and fire ring. Surprisingly private. The bathhouse was very nice and very close.. We really liked the site and the location, very close to the camp store and marina for the water taxi to the Magic Kingdom. Regular bus stops nearby for other sections of the amusement park."

"We absolutely love the campground. We have been coming for years and it just gets better. Sites are good. The transportation to and from the parks and disney springs are easy. The scavenger hunts, campfire and other activities give you time to wind down and relax. Highly recommend."
Holly Baker
"There are no rooms, the camp sites are perfect. When we got there another site was being prepared and they literally powerwashed everything and it looked brand new before the next person came in. No bugs, a ton of lizards and turkey. The bathrooms were always perfect which for a campsite with sand, that was odd to me. People were great, food was great, and transportation to the parks was easy and great! Remember though, for tent campers, the humidity... bring lots of fans..."

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
Accommodations: Cabins vs. Campsites
The cabins offer a more comfortable and convenient stay, resembling small, rustic homes. Each cabin can sleep up to six guests and comes equipped with a full kitchen, private bathroom, and a charming porch. They provide a blend of resort amenities with a touch of nature, making them a popular choice for families or those seeking a bit more luxury than traditional camping.
Both options provide access to the resort's unique amenities, including pools, dining, and transportation. The choice often comes down to personal preference for the level of comfort and the desire for a true camping adventure versus a more relaxed, cabin-style retreat.
Transportation and Getting Around
For travel within the resort and to other Disney parks, an internal bus system operates on a regular schedule. These buses connect different campground loops, the marina, the settlement trading post, and other key areas. Many visitors also choose to rent golf carts to easily traverse the expansive grounds, which can be particularly convenient for families or those with mobility challenges. It's recommended to book these in advance, as they are in high demand. :motorized_bicycle:
For those arriving via ride-sharing services, drop-offs are typically at the main entrance, with internal buses available to reach your accommodation. The resort's layout encourages a slower pace, allowing guests to enjoy the natural surroundings while moving between activities.

Beyond the decorations, the resort offers seasonal activities like outdoor movie screenings of holiday classics and special campfire events. The overall ambiance during this time is truly magical, offering a unique and memorable way to experience the holidays at Walt Disney World.
