In a recent trip to the Apostle Islands and Ashland, WI I happened across these delightful medical displays- one in a local pharmacy window and the other at the Madeline Island Museum (you should definitely go visit). Did you notice that the peppermint bottle was a frequently found item? What do you think people were using it for in a fishing village in the early 1900’s? There was a deep sense o...

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Madeline Island Museum to be a worthwhile stop for its engaging exhibits on Ojibwe culture and island history, particularly enjoying the children's nook and historical videos. However, some feel the admission price, combined with ferry costs, is a bit high for the duration of the visit.

"The historical musical video was well done. The videos in the new side of the museum were relevant and easy to watch. My kids liked the creation myth story video that went with the painting on wall. The children's nook in the old museum was a hit, the kids loved feeling the pelts. It's not the most exciting museum, but it's good for an hour or 2 walkthrough while visiting the island.

-Oh.... And who puts buttons on the wall will a sign not to push the buttons? That's a bit much for anyone to bear 🤣"

Marcy Kyser

"Few small shops once you enter the island and a couple of restaurants as well. About a 15 minute ride from Bayfield to Madeline Island.
$21 for adults $10 for kids 6-11, kids 5 and under are free. Vehicle 19ft and under will run ya about an additional $38 with the pee person fee."

Mark Albertson

"This is a fun small museum that gives great history about the island. We do have a Historical Society pass so I can't speak to if its worth the price going in. Our 6 year old was a little squirrely so we moved through pretty quick."
