When the sea puppy wants to join your harbor walk 🦭❤️ Harbor Seals are very curious. Sometimes when we’re on the water or working on the boat you get the sense that someone is watching you, and turn to find a Harbor Seal bobbing just above the surface of the water. They often disappear as soon as they are spotted, but it’s always special to have an encounter no matter how brief. And no, unfort...

Reviews Summary

Ketchikan is a vibrant and picturesque port town, with its colorful architecture and historic Creek Street being major draws. Visitors appreciate the easy walkability from the cruise dock and the unique charm of the town, though some find the immediate port area crowded with tourist shops. The natural beauty, including totem poles and salmon runs, adds to its appeal.

"A bustling busy port town. The cruise ship dock area throngs with people. The architecture is vivid and colorful. It's definitely a bright place to be.
Just as well, since they say that in Ketchikan it rains every 20 minutes day and night, but not for long.
The little tourist shops are knick-knacky on the quay, but walk around the interesting town a few blocks inland and you'll find better made and better priced items. The supply of fossilized mammoth bones for pen knife handles is dwindling, but they're still to be found.
Once you push through and out of the packed tourists by the qual, this is a lovely town to walk around. Very flat, and very picturesque."

"Excellent location and easy access with a very short easy walk into town. Friendly staff. We took a wildlife cruise tour and had no issues getting in or out and back to our ship. Love this town. So pretty!"

"So excited to land for my first time in Alaska! I hit all 50 states and my feet touched the ground first in Ketchican. We really enjoyed Creek Street, watching for wildlife and viewing the snowcapped mountains. We stayed for 8 hrs and then floated on. Would come again"

The colorful houses on stilts are a photographer's dream and offer a unique glimpse into the town's past. TikTok+2

Walking along Creek Street, you'll notice the distinctive architecture and the clear waters below, where you might even spot salmon during their spawning season. It's a relatively easy walk from the cruise port, making it an accessible highlight for most visitors. The city is often called the 'Totem Pole Capital of the World' due to the sheer number and quality of poles found here. TikTok

You can find impressive totem poles scattered throughout Ketchikan. Whale Park, near the cruise dock, features several notable poles, offering an easy introduction to this art form.
