What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mother's Beach Kennebunk is a beloved spot for families, praised for its gentle waves and excellent playground. While parking can be a challenge and the beach is small, its free admission and lively atmosphere make it a popular choice for a casual day out. Some visitors note accessibility issues and the busy nature of the beach in the afternoons.
"Nice, small beach. Perfect for families. Lots of little ones running around in the afternoon so not as quiet as some of the other beaches."
Jessica Baye
"A little small, and parking was awful as others mentioned. Very pretty, clean, and the playground looked popular. Not very wheelchair accessible, the mat was clearly just thrown down with no regard for the lumpy sand underneath, so it was still very difficult to use for wheelchairs or anything with wheels probably. There are 4 porta potties, the "handicap" (slightly larger than the others with a rusty handrail) toilet was out of paper. Other than that they were fairly clean, just smelled from baking in the sun. It was a little busy, and parking was completely loaded up. I added a photo of the parking meter with prices. I had to park on a nearby street, but when I got back to my car an hour later, a community service patrolman informed me that parking was actually not allowed on either side because someone maybe forgot to put signs up the rest of the street? Just dont park on the one ways, I guess. Easy walk though, smooth sidewalks up the main road."

"Small sand beach near Kennebunkport. Lifeguards are on duty and there are porta potties. No dogs allowed during Memorial Day to Labor Day summer season. A substantial playscape is available as well. Parking is quite limited so expect to park on a nearby sideroad and stroll a block or so to the beach. Family friendly and free admission."

Navigating Parking and Access
While there is an effort to improve accessibility with a mat, some reviews suggest it may not be fully effective on the uneven sand, making it challenging for wheelchairs or strollers. The beach itself is a small sand area, which is great for families but contributes to its cozy, and sometimes crowded, feel. Lifeguards are present during the summer season, adding a layer of safety for swimmers.
The Family-Friendly Vibe
This lively atmosphere means it's not the place for those seeking a quiet, secluded beach experience. Instead, expect a cheerful buzz of activity, with families picnicking and children's laughter filling the air. It's a place where locals often bring their kids, offering a glimpse into the community's summer routines.
