What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Amelia Island's beautiful beaches, perfect for 4x4 driving and shark tooth hunting. The island offers a nostalgic and peaceful atmosphere, with many returning for generations. While swimming isn't always recommended due to sharks, the fishing and scenic beauty are major draws. Some find certain areas, like Huguenot, to be trashy, but Amelia Island itself is highly praised for its tranquility and natural charm.
"This is my happy place I grew up coming out here if you are looking to find shark teeth this is a awesome place to come. The fishing out here is pretty decent for whiting , spade fish, catfish, bonnet head shark, is what you can typically catch, flounder as well. It gets pretty hot and not a lot of shade so bring a umbrella or small tent. I certainly do not recommend swimming because of the surplus of shark in the area. The bathrooms are great and typically always pretty clean."

"Took my daughter out too try our 4x4 bronco and Huguenot was a disaster and really trashy looking and over packed, so we came here. Paid $4 cash, and you have too have 4x4, but it's well worth it. Maybe 15 cars on the 4x4 side and it was peaceful. Some were fishing and some playing in the water. I highly recommend it."

"Amelia island has been my family’s fishing spot for the last 30+ years. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I now live in Tennessee but still visit at least once a year to come fishing with my grandparents. This is a very nostalgic place for me and will always be where I feel truly at home!
It’s a great beach to drive your 4x4 on and to take home a cooler full. Of course, we still have had those days where we go home with an empty cooler. Great place to catch red, whiting, flounder, trout, and many more. Always beautiful sunrises here too!"
