What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lake Camanche North Shore is praised for its excellent trout fishing opportunities and family-friendly camping at Blue Oaks Campground. However, visitors have expressed significant frustration with the strict and seemingly inconsistently enforced no-alcohol policy, which has led to group evictions without warning. Concerns have also been raised about unclear rules regarding boating and kayaking.
"I am absolutely heartbroken and furious about what happened on our recent trip to Lake Camanche. My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years, always booking the large 72-person group site and bringing together 15–20 families, many with young children. This trip was supposed to be another fun tradition for our kids and friends — instead, it turned into the worst camping experience we’ve ever had.
On our very first night, Park Rangers were literally hiding in the bushes, secretly watching us. One guest had a single beer, and because of that, they kicked out our ENTIRE group. I was woken up to the sound of rangers yelling at my guests in the middle of the night. I personally tried to reason with them and promised it wouldn’t happen again, but they didn’t care. They ruined the trip for dozens of families and left a lot of kids in tears.
This was an outrageous and unnecessary punishment for such a minor mistake. It felt less like “park management” and more like harassment. After a decade of loyalty, I’ve already canceled our reservation for next year and we will never return. Lake Camanche has lost our trust and our business forever."

"This place is the worst campsite ever. We’ve been going here twice a year for the last few years and this time they evicted us with no warning. Somebody in our group campsite brought some alcohol and instead of kicking that person out or That person dumped the alcohol out they evicted us. We understand there’s no alcohol, But we did not bring it. Someone in our group did bring it, but they punished the whole group. We had over 60 people on our campsite and they kicked all of us out. We had no warning no don’t do it again. It was just you need to leave now."

"The people in charge of communications should be ashamed of themselves. They don't have it listed anywhere on their website or on road signs that there is no boating or kayaking. Where they do have it, is right when you get to the entrance. It's really shameful of you to let people get there with their stuff and families, ready to enjoy a day at the lake, just to be let down for no reason. It's not at all hard to have it listed on your website, on any of the many posts telling you which way the lake is, or on the voicemail for the phone you don't ever answer.. which we did try to use prior to ask before making our way there, but it's hard to ask when you don't answer the phone. We won't be wasting our time at this lake any time soon, and I'll suggest others don't as well."
