Reviews Summary
Visitors generally have a fun time at the Indiana State Fair, praising the delicious and diverse food options, the engaging 4-H exhibits, and the availability of wheelchair rentals. However, many note that the experience can become quite expensive, particularly with food and game costs, and suggest strategic planning to manage the budget.
"Had a fun time on the last day the fair was open this year. I didn't realize until this year i could get alcoholic drinks! Shower my i.d. one time and got a bracelet so I didn't have to show it again. You could buy as many as you wanted although I only had went in twice. They also have wheelchairs to rent for 25$ for the whole day which is nice because my elderly mother can't walk that far for very long. We enjoy shopping in the tents and getting out the food. My mom got an apple dumpling and ice cream she loved it. I found cheese curds which I was really suprised by never expected to get them at a fair. They were very good but they were 17$ for a cup, which was about a large size of curds I'd say from anywhere else. They had wood carvings which were pretty cool and very cute. We also got bobble heads made of ourselves for free from state farms tent. Which was awesome! I would definitely go to the fair again. Also parking is 10$ but it wasn't too far from the gate and we came later in the day. Also had to have my purse checked. I will definitely be returning and I recommend you try it as well ❤️"

"The fair grounds hold lots of events. Obviously first and foremost is the state fair. But they also hold some other events too like the Oddities and Curiosities showcase and a drive through Christmas light show. I can't say I've ever seen the grandstands used. Maybe it's for some of the concerts held there... But all of the events are well staffed and crowds are handled well. The fair grounds are nice, clean and well maintained. My only negative is that having to walk a circle around a giant parking lot can get a little boring and hot. The area has a lot of asphalt. Some more trees around the area or teardown of unused concrete/asphalt could go a long way. They do have a tractor shuttle during fair days to help alleviate some of the walking though."

"The Indiana State Fair was very crowded by 10am on Saturday. But there was still plenty of parking and crowds moved swiftly at exhibits and standing in line for other things. There were plenty of staff there in case of a question or problem which might arise. Unfortunately, the prices seem to be a bit high for the average family to go to. Parking and admission for 2 adults was $44, plus a lunch for 2 which added another $25. Gulp down a $30 bucket lemonade with that and you are already at $100 before even getting started. After some cheap blow up rifles, a stuffed animal that had bad stitching, and 3 gold fish later we managed to skip out without losing more than $100 in a few short games. Without self-control or a little restraint, a person can be well over the $200 which our family spent within an hour of being at the fair. It is an enjoyment to see the animals and pioneer village but outside of that, I wouldn't suggest taking a van full of children unless they are already fed and it is bracelet ride day because if you do otherwise, withdraw $400-700 immediately, with no regrets. Cause that is what it will take to feed and please the group you will have with you."
