What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Hersheypark Camping Resort is praised for its affordability, convenient shuttle service, and pet-friendly atmosphere, making it a great base for exploring the Hershey area. While many enjoy the cabin and camping amenities, some guests have noted issues with train noise and shuttle reliability during peak times.
"Hersheypark Camping Resort is an amazing facility located just outside the chocolate capital of the world of Hershey, Pennsylvania. The facility has a variety of different sites to choose from including tent camping sites, RV sites, electric vehicle sites, and log cabins as well. I stayed in a log cabin and found it to be very clean and comfortable for my trip. I highly recommend this facility if visiting the Hershey area as it provides a good outdoor experience and is great for families with children and is extremely affordable."

"Disappointed is an understatement. We’ve stayed at the Hershey Lodge before and had a great experience so admittedly I did not read reviews before we came. The train that runs beside the campground kept us up all night, our day at the park was absolutely miserable because we were all exhausted. Also, for your basic response of pick another spot next time, there won’t be a next time. Also, we booked on the phone and the train was not mentioned at all or a mention to read the FAQ."

"Great time being at this campground. They have shuttle service to save driving and parking costs. Would definitely come back next summer to experience the water parks. Fully packed for 21 pilots concert and everyone was friendly."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider booking a cabin that accommodates your family size and look for sites away from the train tracks if noise is a concern for younger children. The ability to have campfires also adds to the family fun, with opportunities for s'mores and storytelling. The overall atmosphere is relaxed and geared towards outdoor enjoyment, making it a memorable experience for all ages.
💰 Budget Travelers
Preparing your own meals using the kitchenettes in cabins or grills and fire pits at campsites can also lead to substantial savings compared to dining out for every meal. While the campground itself has amenities like pools, focusing on these free activities can further enhance your budget-friendly trip. Remember to check for weekday rates, which are often lower than weekend rates.
🐶 Pet Owners
While the park itself has restrictions on pets (service animals are typically allowed), the campground provides a comfortable and safe haven for them. Ensure you are aware of any specific pet policies, such as leash requirements and designated pet relief areas, to ensure a smooth stay for everyone.

The Hersheypark Experience from the Campground
Many visitors highlight the 'Park Preview' benefit offered to guests of official Hersheypark resorts. This perk allows you to enter the park for a few hours the evening before your ticketed day, often with significantly shorter lines. This can be a game-changer for maximizing your time in the park and experiencing popular rides with less waiting. Remember to check the specific terms and conditions of this benefit when booking your accommodation.
Beyond the park, the campground itself offers a range of amenities. Three swimming pools provide a refreshing escape on warm days, and mini-golf offers family-friendly fun. For those who enjoy cooking outdoors, the availability of fire pits and grills at most sites and cabins enhances the camping experience, allowing for classic campfire meals and s'mores.
Accommodation Options: Cabins vs. RV/Tent Sites
For those who prefer a more traditional outdoor experience, RV sites and tent camping are readily available. These sites often come with full hookups for RVs (electric, water, sewer) and offer a connection with nature. Many sites are described as clean and well-maintained, with convenient trash pickup services. Pet-friendly options are a significant draw for many travelers, making it easier to bring along furry family members.
When choosing your accommodation, consider the proximity to the train tracks, as some sites can experience noise. Reviewing site maps or inquiring directly with the resort can help you select a location that best suits your needs for a peaceful and enjoyable stay. The availability of free Wi-Fi across the resort is a welcome amenity for staying connected.
Dark Nights: A Spooky Seasonal Experience
While the campground itself doesn't host haunted attractions, its proximity to the park makes it an ideal location for those planning to attend Dark Nights. After a night of scares, returning to the relative tranquility of the campground can be a welcome respite. However, it's worth noting that on nights with major events like concerts or Dark Nights, the shuttle service can become overwhelmed, leading to longer wait times for return trips to the campground. Planning your departure strategy is crucial to avoid extended waits.
For those looking to fully embrace the Halloween spirit, booking a stay during the Dark Nights season allows for easy access to the park's spooky offerings. Remember that Dark Nights requires a separate Hersheypark ticket, and it's advisable to purchase these in advance, especially for popular weekend dates.
