What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise House Mountain for its challenging and rewarding hikes, particularly the stunning views from the East Overlook. While some find the trails steep and signage inconsistent, the overall experience is highly valued for its cardio benefits and natural beauty. It's a great spot for those seeking an invigorating outdoor adventure.
"It's a very nice hike if you like cardio activities! I enjoyed the difficulty of this hike.
My main issue is that I couldn't find a great lookout spot at the top and there are poor indicators the farther you go up.
I expected a better view at the top from the videos and pictures I've seen online. Overall not a bad hike due to me enjoying the difficulty.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't do well on prolonged inclines"
Sele Gonzalez
"My spouse and I walked up to the overlook that was a short .8 mile hike and when we got to the top we wished that we had started our hike sooner because we were so energized by the fun rocks that we climbed up there and there was even more to the hike at the top! The crest is our next venture. Definitely a lovely hike with a bit of an incline, but it wasn’t super busy which is always nice. I absolutely recommend giving this hike a go if you’re new to hiking or getting into it for the season!"
Zoella Stone
"Blue trail was a little tough but muscled through most the trails. Trails could definitely use clearer signage. Views were spectacular on West end. Could not find view point on East end."

For those who enjoy a bit of scrambling, the 'fun rocks' encountered on some paths add an element of adventure. It's important to wear sturdy hiking boots with good traction, as the terrain can be uneven and steep. If you plan to hike for sunset, bringing a flashlight is essential for a safe descent after dark. Remember to respect the hard work of the trail crew by staying on marked paths and avoiding shortcuts, which can lead to trail erosion.
When planning your hike, consider the best time to visit to maximize your experience. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or looking to challenge yourself, House Mountain offers a rewarding outdoor adventure.
Capturing the Views: Photography at House Mountain
When packing for your photography excursion, a wide-angle lens is highly recommended to capture the expansive landscapes. If you're interested in details, a telephoto lens can be useful for wildlife or flora. Don't forget extra batteries, as hiking can drain power quickly. For those planning a sunset shoot, remember that daylight fades fast, and a flashlight is crucial for navigating back down the trail safely.
While the natural beauty is abundant, remember to be mindful of the environment. Respect any posted guidelines regarding drone usage or commercial photography. The best time to visit for photography often aligns with the best times for hiking – early mornings for soft light and fewer people, or late afternoons for sunset magic.
