Happy Hump Jump! I wanted to share some cool street art and an Asian Food Hall in Kaka'ako. One of my favorite places to roam and take in the gorgeous arts district. Digital connections can be creatively beneficial, and I have enjoyed the people and things I've discovered. But I hope our post-pandemic pandemic world will allow us to modify our digital usage somewhat. I miss some of the things that...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the Kaka'ako Street Art District, calling it an 'art lovers haven' with 'amazing street art' and 'impressive talent.' The vibrant, diverse murals covering entire buildings are a major draw, offering fantastic photo opportunities. While some mention potential safety concerns after dark, daytime visits are generally described as safe and enjoyable, with plenty of food and drink options nearby.

"Very cool street art experience. The murals cover the whole street-facing side of the buildings, and there is a diversity of artists represented. It's a great place to visit after having a few drinks from one of the many breweries in the area."

Dyanna Volek

"There is some beautiful graffiti art here! If you can spare 20 or 30 minutes, definitely take some time to walk around these few blocks.

I saw some reviewers noting that the area didn't seem safe. I went in daylight and was alone, and I never felt unsafe. However, that might have changed had I visited after dark. That said, go in the daytime so you can get the full effect of the colors!"

Alex Duncan

"I wish I could upload the videos I took of this area. AMAZING STREET ART AND A MUST SEE IF YOU'RE IN THE AREA. These were just a few pictures I took along a bike ride. Sorry it isn't the best quality. Some very serious and impressive talent shown in the area. Streets are full of different murals and art styles. There is literally a bit of everything from graffiti, abstract, animation to realistic. There is also tons of food and bars in the area to choose from. Lots of metered parking on the street or you can rent a bike like I did and ride though. You'll see locals playing pickle ball, basketball and the local ufc mma gym in the area. Just an outstanding area. My expectations were more than exceeded."

This international street art event has brought world-renowned artists to Honolulu, adorning the sides of buildings with breathtaking murals. The art is diverse, ranging from intricate portraits and fantastical creatures to bold abstract designs and vibrant lettering. Wandering through the streets, you'll encounter a constantly evolving canvas, with new pieces appearing and old ones sometimes being painted over, making each visit a unique experience. Many visitors recommend exploring specific streets like Auahi Street, Cooke Street, and Keawe Street to find the highest concentration of these impressive artworks. The sheer scale and detail of the murals make Kaka'ako a must-visit for art enthusiasts and photographers alike. It's an area that truly celebrates creativity and community expression, offering a stark contrast to the more traditional tourist spots. Reddit

Beyond the murals, Kaka'ako also features smaller galleries and art installations, further cementing its status as an artistic hub. The area's industrial past has been reimagined, with warehouses and commercial buildings now serving as canvases for incredible talent. It’s a testament to how urban spaces can be revitalized through public art.

Navigating Kaka'ako: Parking and Transportation

Getting around Kaka'ako and finding parking can be a point of consideration for visitors. While the area is centrally located and accessible by bus or ride-share, parking can be challenging, especially during peak times and weekends.
