Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park for its dedication to native Florida wildlife and the unique experience of seeing animals in natural habitats. The underwater observatory and the chance to see Lu the hippo are consistent highlights. While some facilities may occasionally be under repair or closed, the overall charm and educational value make it a worthwhile visit for families and nature lovers.

"Now I will say after COVID they had to lose some animals because of cost and care . Than the hurricane last year really put them in a huge area where everything went underwater and it hard. Also Lou the famous hippo died😢. So they are starting to renovate and slowly it's getting better. But it's still a beautiful place to stroll along stop sit for awhile enjoy. There's still the manatees and the under water station on top of a spring that you can see all kinds of fish and manatees up close like your in a fishbowl. I love to bring people here. It's old FL. . There's deer ,bobcat ,turtles, snakes, black bears ,a beautiful cougar or FL. Panther,a large bird open air sanctuary, endangered wolves are amazing, owls, hawks, alligators but the large areas where you would normally see tons of huge alligators and the otter area are covered with Alot of tiny lil lilly pads hiding anything in those areas . They haven't made it to clean out all that over growth. Thou you can still see one here or there. It's beautiful board walk that you walk in a large circle around the whole park thru amazingly lovely hammocks/ marshes are enough to go do. Highly recommend."

"We visit here every time we have out of state visitors. It's a great way to spend a half day. They are recovering from the back to back hurricanes from last year. There were a few missing birds, but otherwise all the animals were viewable. Sadly Lou the hippo died this year. There were maybe 10 manatees and their young in the river. I would suggest the boat ride to get to the park. It does cost a little extra, but worth it."

Kendra Long

"Very nice refuge for the wildlife. There's either a boat or tram tour that will bring you to the actual park. We took the boat tours both ways as we didn't see the tram, but it's a very pleasant and scenic ride. Lots of wildlife including manatees, bobcat, fox, flamingos, owls, and so much more. Bring the children and they can see all these animals."
