What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Brian Piccolo Sports Park are mixed. While many appreciate the well-maintained grounds, family-friendly amenities like playgrounds, and the unique velodrome, some visitors have had significant issues with event organization, field maintenance, and communication, particularly concerning soccer leagues. The park is a good spot for casual recreation and family outings but can be problematic for organized sports events.
"My team and I decided to register in this league a while back, and it has been a HUGE disappointment — a total WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, AND PATIENCE. We were excited to play, but we haven’t had a single game in OVER A MONTH, and every time we ask what’s going on, we get excuses that make no sense.
One Sunday, I woke up early, went out to buy water and supplies for my team, and drove all the way from HOMESTEAD to HOLLYWOOD for our 9 a.m. game — only to find out the games were CANCELLED DUE TO “BAD WEATHER.” The crazy part? The day was PERFECTLY SUNNY in the entire Hollywood area. No rain, no clouds, nothing.
It’s clear the park management and whoever runs this league DON’T CARE about the players. They cancel games for no reason, do ZERO COMMUNICATION, and the fields are barely maintained. For a paid recreational league, this level of organization is UNACCEPTABLE.
I really hope the county or whoever oversees Brian Piccolo Sports Park TAKES ACTION, because this kind of management is EMBARRASSING and should NOT happen again."

"Lovely location, the park is just beautifully maintained, I went with my toddler a couple of weeks ago and did not disappointed we even went back the next week."

"1/5 Stars - Disastrous Experience at Brian Piccolo Sports Park for Soccer Cup
We traveled to [Park Name] for a highly anticipated soccer cup, expecting a smooth and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, the park's lack of organization and cooperation was staggering. Despite arriving early, we were met with resistance from park staff who seemed reluctant to open the facilities on time.
Key Issues:
1. Late Start: Games were scheduled to begin at 8 am, but delays due to the park's tardiness in opening put our entire schedule behind.
2. Poor Communication: There was a lack of clear communication regarding the park's opening time and the reasons for the delay.
3. Unprofessional Staff: The staff's attitude and demeanor were unhelpful and unwelcoming.
Recommendation:
Given the issues we faced, I would not recommend the park ] for large events like soccer cups. The park's inability to manage and facilitate a smooth experience for participants and spectators was disappointing.
Rating Breakdown:
- Facilities: 2/5
- Staff: 1/5
- Organization: 1/5"

The Velodrome Experience
Many cyclists express joy and nostalgia upon returning to the velodrome, highlighting its appeal as a place for both seasoned athletes and those rediscovering the sport. The sheer act of riding on the banked curves is often described as a pure, unadulterated cycling thrill. For those new to velodromes, understanding the dynamics of riding on the banking is key to a safe and enjoyable experience.
When visiting the velodrome, always prioritize safety. Ensure you have the appropriate bicycle, helmet, and any other protective gear. Check for any posted rules or guidelines specific to the velodrome's operation to ensure a smooth and safe cycling session for everyone.
Navigating Park Events and Field Conditions
Furthermore, the condition of the sports fields themselves has been a point of contention. Some users describe the soccer fields as dangerous, citing holes and poor grass coverage, which detracts from the playing experience and raises safety concerns. This is particularly disappointing for paid leagues where participants expect a certain standard of field maintenance.
For visitors planning to use the sports fields, it's highly recommended to check the park's event calendar in advance. This can help avoid potential disruptions or cancellations. If you are part of an organized league, communicate directly with your league organizers about any concerns regarding field conditions or event scheduling. The park's management has been criticized for their response to field issues, with one comment suggesting they rely on insurance rather than proactive maintenance.

It provides a safe and accessible way for families to enjoy the outdoors together. The park also offers rental options for picnic shelters and cabins, which are perfect for birthday parties or family gatherings, adding to its appeal as a venue for celebrations.
While the park is great for casual family visits, it's worth noting that during large organized events, some areas might be more crowded or less accessible.
