Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Hobe Sound Nature Center for its friendly and knowledgeable staff, who are passionate about the animals and conservation. The live animal exhibits are a major highlight, offering engaging encounters for all ages. While the indoor center is compact, it's well-designed and informative, complemented by pleasant nature trails and a quiet beach.

"Had a great circuit hike with surprise elevation. Great view of the intercostal from the top. It's a short hike so it's not intense. The nature center was filled with amazing friendly staff. If you're a Vet, stop in the gift shop and have a convo! The animals they have on site are loved and cared for quite well. The turtle by the snail tank can't wait to say hello! Stop in, grab a map, learn something new and enjoy time well spent. It's beautiful here.
Oh!! Don't be a goober like me and miss the entrance to the stairs back to the center. Yeah, that wooden gate. Not it.
It's actually a trail just to the left of the dock. Join the mailing list and get in on the turtle walks. Well worth a visit!!"

Kimberly Hobin

"We visited on a Saturday morning right at opening in late December 2024. We arrived before the Nature Center opened and did the Nature Trail first.

When we arrived back after our short hike the doors were open. We were greeted by multiple staff/volunteers. They were all super nice and happy to chat and talk about the history of the nature center and refuge. There is a store directly on the left with tons of merch. To the right when you walk in are the bathrooms. Also at this front little desk area they have the National Wildlife Refuge Blue Goose cancellation passport stamp for those who collect them.

As you walk further into the center you run into a very large area full of hands on interactive exhibit. There were soo many live animals as well and it was very well done. Everything looked brand new and should entertain people of all ages. We got to pet their alligator and kids engaged with the staff the entire time.

We spent maybe 30 mins exploring the nature center and probably could've stayed a little longer but we had to continue our road trip for the day. We would 100% come back and definitely stop by if we were passing through."

David L.

"It was VERY hot the day we went, heat index over 100, so we didn't get to walk the trails but the indoor facility is great. The kids loved the bingo with all the animals. They have quite a few and the staff was very informative. Worth a trip when combined with other things in the area or just passing through. You probably can't spend more than an hour here so it's a good place to stop for a bit on a trip."
