"Nice, relatively easy hike with good views and a well maintained trail. Views toward sunrise and sunset sides of the mountain. Parking can be somewhat limited but is free.
Do be aware that there are bears here as we were surprised by a very large one on Sunset Rock which came onto the rock within 15 feet of us! For this reason I do not recommend taking food onto any of the mountains in the area."
Greg Hart
"Ok you have to go here! And you actually can drive but we hiked we didn’t know, but you should hike! It’s gorgeous and peaceful with the best view."

Exploring the Dual Viewpoints
The trails connecting these viewpoints are generally well-maintained and relatively easy, making them accessible for most visitors. While the hike from Main Street is a pleasant option, some choose to drive closer. However, the road leading to the higher parking areas is rough and requires a vehicle with high clearance, so hiking is often the more practical choice for many. The short duration of the hike, around 20 minutes one way, makes it a convenient addition to any Highlands itinerary.
Wildlife Encounters and Safety
To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit, it's strongly advised to avoid bringing food onto the trails or to the viewpoints. This practice helps to minimize attractants for bears and other animals, reducing the likelihood of unwanted encounters. Always be aware of your surroundings, make noise as you hike, and never approach or feed wildlife. Following these simple guidelines will help protect both visitors and the park's animal inhabitants.
