Reviews Summary
Graw Alley is celebrated as a beautiful community park space adorned with historically significant murals that honor local heroes and the town's heritage. Visitors find it a peaceful, enriching, and well-preserved spot, perfect for a brief yet impactful exploration. While the art is highly praised, some may wish for more extensive historical context or amenities.
"The Bourbon St side of Graw Alley Memorial Park The soldier is my brother Michael James Fair. On May 16, 1983, at the age of 25, Michael sacrificed his life as a green beret training Moroccan troops to fight terrorists such as the ones who later were responsible for 911.
In the first photo are pictured (a) me and Michael's and my mother Perena Cianelli-Fair (May 2023) and (b) me and Michael's and my father Donald Joseph Fair (June 2023). Both pictures were taken in front of the mural of Michael. On the bottom left you'll see the surname Fair. Hidden is the given name Allen, which is my brother's and my paternal uncle. Allen and the others listed organized the construction and commissioned an artist to paint the murals for Graw Alley. (I met the artist and I believe his name is Jean Marc Calvet.)
The second photo is a screenshot google map, where you can view a soldier who has been killed and another who is perhaps being rescued on the brink of death."

"I took my children to Graw Alley upon the recommendation of a librarian at the Maryland Horse Library in Reistertown who mentioned the historical equestrian display there. Upon visiting, we were pleased to find not only the equestrian display but also a number of other historically relevant murals. The space is nicely laid out, tucked into a quiet corner that feels refreshingly inviting & open, yet safe and well preserved. Our visit was brief but enriching as the space was easy to navigate in a short space of time. Both my children and I enjoyed the murals and statues. We plan to visit again when we can take our time and really appreciate the space more fully. Overall, Graw Alley is a nice place to tap into the rich local history of Havre de Grace."
