What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Harpers Ferry's stunning natural beauty, particularly the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers, and the panoramic views from hiking trails. The historic town's charm and rich Civil War history are also frequently praised. Some find parking challenging and note that certain historical exhibits have faced controversy.
"I believe this point is misnamed. My quick research indicates this point was the entrance to the Armory Canal which was actually a millrace, not a canal. This millrace supplied water to power the armory and later to power the still standing hydro electric plant. The Potomac skirting canal (called the House or Long Canal) was on the MD side of the river.
Decent trail though."

"This is a nice walk from River Riders campground. I didn't see anyone catch any fish, but the views are amazing, like pretty much anywhere around here!"
Nicole theTrainer
"The entranceway for riverwater to the historical Potomac Canal. Later the canal served to bring water to the hydroelectric power plant. Today there are concrete ramparts that protect the opening. There's an observation platform with railings. Fun place to watch the Potomac River flow by!"
