"Although an intimate, beautiful place. (Viking Dance Hall). The attendant has to be replaced by a person who is people friendly and professional. My cousin rented the place for my daughters 16th birthday, June 2024. The decorator had gotten there before us and was informed that we had to be there in order for her to get in and set up; but also informed me that Mary was kinda rude during the communication process. When I finally got there, Mary asked me to sign the contract but immediately in the same breath asked me for a plate of food?!? I'm like, huh, I told her my guest wasn't even here yet and she needed to wait. We were just getting there. I thought that was very TACKY! Besides that, I didn't want to give her nothing since the decorator said she was being rude upon arriving. I then noticed her about to dig into our food with her own utensils and plate. I stopped her. Apparently, she went to ask my daughter's father for food after I told her she needed to wait. I mean, how ridiculous! After the party was over, she stood with garbage bags like " Do this and do that." Everyone noticed like "What's wrong with her?" MY son asked her where to throw the balloons away at. She told him he could sit them by a garbage bin in the back. To only find out, they kept the $100 deposit because she said we didn't throw the balloons away in the dumpster. Also, because it was water on one of the tables. They then said they could give me $50 back. I told them to keep it. I'm donating it back to the park district. It's not about the money, it's principle. Her supervisor, also named Mary, was also very rude. She tried to explain the reasoning the attendant was begging for food. Her explanation was that she left her lunch at home. (Smh, no accountablity) This is a beautiful place, but the employees hired to run this establishment really suck! This was the worst experience I ever had with any banquet rental. I really hope the administration takes this into consideration. Customer service, etiquette, professionalism, and empathy go a long way in business. We have to do better as human beings."

"I do not recommend anyone planning an event here. The coordinating staff is rude and will use their fees as retribution against you for being personally upset at you. It's one thing to calmly explain issues being brought up and another where you're shouting and abruptly hanging the phone on us without thoroughly explaining policies. If you get this upset over a small issue, you guys need to find a new line of work."

"I want to give them 5 stars but struggles I've had with the financial aspect has been a nightmare. If you need childcare funding from the state don't use the park district for your child's preschool, even though the growing tree is amazing. I've been fighting them from day 1. It's been a nightmare."
