What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Mystic to be a charming New England town with beautiful scenery and unique shops. While the drawbridge and waterfront views are highlights, many note that prices, especially in downtown boutiques, can be quite high. The summer season brings significant crowds, so planning ahead is advised.
"I feel like this is a three and a half. Sure, it was fun going through Mystic, but the prices were just way too high. I know it's scenic and Connecticut, but t-shirts shouldn't cost thirty-five dollars and simple paper weights were nearly twenty dollars. It's not a bad historic site at all with the bridge and a few parts (I posted pictures of the bridge in its own section), but the stores are overly glamorous and high-priced. It is all fancy clothes and higher end objects. Mystic Village is more reasonable, but they are even pretty high priced."

"8.27.22 It's summer so obviously it's busy so plan your time accordingly. There are several pay to park options and all are well marked. Lots of people walking and sightseeing so please be cautious. There are many free things to do like sightsee, walk, bike, run, paddleboard, enjoy the magnificent area. Go check out the marina, the breweries, poke inside some of the stores and boutiques. Sit and enjoy the river and the crazy outfits people wear. This is a great people watching place."

"Beautiful with the drawbridge. Lots of cute locally owned shops. A few places to dine. I was in a wheelchair and most shops were accessible but there were a few that weren’t. The views were beautiful. Cars do go a bit fast but so be cautions"

The Vampire Diaries Connection
Fans seeking the 'Mystic Falls' experience often visit Covington, Georgia, where they can find locations like the Mystic Grill and the Mystic Mercantile, which sells show-related merchandise. These spots allow fans to immerse themselves in the world of the Salvatore brothers and the iconic town.
Therefore, if your interest in 'Mystic' is driven by The Vampire Diaries, your travel plans should be directed towards Covington, Georgia, rather than Mystic, Connecticut. It's an immersive journey into America's maritime past.
Complementing the Seaport is the Mystic Aquarium, which, while focused on marine life, also touches upon the human connection to the ocean. From understanding marine ecosystems to appreciating the creatures that inhabit our waters, these institutions collectively tell the story of Mystic's enduring relationship with the sea.
