Reviews Summary
St. Mark's Episcopal Church is praised for its warm, welcoming congregations and significant community outreach, particularly feeding the homeless and offering student lunches. While the peaceful atmosphere is a major draw, some visitors note that the church's tradition of self-guided learning might be less intuitive for newcomers seeking a more guided introduction to religious practices.

"Earlier today we tried a church near our new apartment and were surprised at how divisive and militant the pastor and congregation of that location was to us.
St. Mark's was the exact opposite of the first experience today, and falls neatly into the calming, peaceful environment we were seeking today.
Having participated in several denominations over the years, I will say that St Marks has a relatively easy to follow process, but lacks the seeker friendly atmosphere for new attendees. Much of this Church's tradition revolves around the concept that learning and understanding the practices and processes is done on your own time. That's not how new seekers learn about religion these days though. It would help, tremendously, if there was a dedicated narrative presented to the audience to guide people and educate them about the practices as they are happening. The environment of quiet, peaceful meditation is great; but it can be confusingly still at times leading new attendees to think that the leaders forgot what they were doing next. We'll be giving it another go this coming week, but have commitments elsewhere for the summer."
