Grand Portal sure is looking good surrounded by the fall color 😍🍁🍂 When I set out from the trail head my goal was to hike to Lovers Leap, Grand Portal Point, then to Chapel Beach. I expected the fall colors to be pretty good but I did not expect them to be this good! They definitely exceeded my expectations and it was worth the 10.6 miles of hiking! • #nature #naturevideo #videoagraphy #igreels...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the spectacular views and unique sandstone arch at Grand Portal Point, calling it a highlight of Pictured Rocks. The surrounding hike, particularly the Chapel Loop, offers stunning scenery and access to beautiful Chapel Beach. However, some find the trail distances longer than advertised and the access roads quite bumpy.

"At about the halfway point of the chapel hill loop you will co.e to the grand portal a unique landmark next to the chapel beach and the campgrounds."

Craig Brophy

"The most popular place i visited on the Chapel loop as I ran into people doing the loop in the reverse way and several trail hikers who decided to stop here. The best views with the light were approaching from the east. There is a large sandstone bench on the west side of this outcropping. The point and marker are further north east than Google maps has it, but it's in the right ballpark."

Trypp Adams

"I really enjoyed the scenery along most of the hike to grand portal point. My odometer and cellphone both tracked the distance at 11.5 miles out to the point and back. The map said it was 8.5ish. I strongly recommend bringing extra food and water. Wear hiking shoes as the trails can be very muddy. There are several fallen trees. I took a star off because the distance they listed for out and back seemed wrong, the dirt road to the park was extremely bumpy (unlike miners castle), and i felt there was a lack of waypoint signs along the path to update on progress. But the views are spectacular. I especially loved chapels beach. The sand was so deep and clean."
