The historic charm and well-maintained, updated rooms and cabins are frequently highlighted, alongside friendly and helpful staff. "Stayed in a basic, cute cabin( no fireplace or view) at bright angel. Great location-5’ walk to the rim and also eating. Parking was handy. The parks service has done an amazing job with keeping things up to date, but in keeping with the atmosphere.Every employee was friendly and patiently helpful and I think happy to be working there!!"

"If you've never been to the Grand Canyon South Rim, you're missing an exceptional vacation. For adults, you can't miss this spectacular natural phenomenon (one of the 8 wonders of the world) in our own backyard (if you live in AZ). We make an annual reservation for September for 4 days, since I moved here in 2006. I don't think there's a more serene spot in the entire country, even though it gets millions of visitors each year. Kids will always be glued to their phones where ever they are, but your outdoor lovers will have to be in awe. I hiked to Plateau Point in 2013 (I was 60) and round-trip took me almost 12 hours. You're NOT in a hurry when you hike the canyon. This was the most unforgettable thing I've ever done, virtually tied with hiking from Bear Lake to Grand Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park back in 1978. I still plan to get the to bottom of the Canyon within the next few years. It's a life goal. My wife and I rent a rim cabin with a view every year. You open the curtains and the canyon is right there. It's well worth the expense and you are also right there in the village, by the restaurants, shops, art museum and trail heads. Staying in the park is the right move. There's several options in the park from the opulent El Tovar Hotel, to the multi-story hotel rooms at Thunderbird, Kachina, Maswik lodges, and Bright Angel lodge for rim cabins and set back cabins and Yavapai lodge which is about a 1/4 mile away from the village itself within easy walking distance. You can take free shuttles all over the park. You can rent bikes. I always bring my bike but rented an ebike for my wife this time, and she loved it. You've got wifi so the kids can cope. The older you get the more you appreciate our National parks. I've always loved the outdoors. Don't wait, do this while you're young and can move around."

"We have stayed at a number of National Park lodgings in the past few years and this was the best experience yet in terms of quality of lodging, location and service. We booked a rim view cabin and what a view it was! Easy friendly check in and informative responsive front desk staff at historic lodge. Food on site was reasonably priced and excellent quality, which is important because options off site are limited Decor and quality of bedding were tastefully updated without sacrificing authenticity and the bathroom was a joyous surprise as updated with excellent water pressure and comfortable amenities. Happy to report we didn’t turn on the TV once (the best show on America was outside our window and front door) but were pleased there even was one In room coffee and fridge were also nice extras. Overall a first class parks experience in lodging that is far better than similar priced options at other parks we have visited."
