Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Alex Theatre's stunning historic architecture and its role as a venue for diverse performances, from films to live shows. However, some reviews mention issues with event organization, lack of air conditioning during warmer periods, and potential viewing obstructions from certain seats. Parking and entry processes have also been noted as areas for improvement.
"The show itself and the performance was really nice. Highly recommend for parents and kiddos to enjoy but felt the event was organized poorly and I would’ve rated this a one but the theater itself wasn’t too bad. The location definitely is small and there was no AC 🥵 it was so hot and I heard a girl coming up from the bottom seats and said she couldn’t wait to get fresh air because it was so hot there too. We sat literally last row and it was so many stairs to get to our seats so anyone going to upper levels beware of multiple stairs . I believe they do have elevators 🛗 and restrooms 🚻 in both top and lower levels. Parking 🅿️ is $1 for four hrs Parking validation for city lots on Orange Street Parking Garage, Exchange Garage and Glendale Marketplace Garage. (Rates subject to change) we didn’t know so we parked in the street a couple blocks from there but it was a struggle to find one because there are multiple businesses nearby so most spots are taken. The lady helping on bottom floors (older Armenian lady) and a security guard in the first floor were very rudely sending people to their seats instead of being kind and professional about it once play was about to start. The view from last row seats was not too bad except when a kid sits on top of their parent’s lap because then it blocks your view completely an you have to sit at the edge of your seat the entire show and it hurts your back. You’re not longer able to sit comfortably in your seat and enjoy your show because now you have two ppl blocking your view no matter which ways you try to look down. So highly encourage getting closer seats whenever possible. Full disclosure I had to zoom in on my picture but it was still an ok view with heads in front and all taken into account just hopefully you don’t blocked like we did 😢. Lines were huge to purchase concessions and there was no order or signs to guide you or if there was they were poorly visible because everybody was pushing to get through to either purchase or walk to restroom or purchase a souvenir etc. 😵💫 there was a lot of pushing and people getting no upset because of this. Also we were never told there was a brief break, the curtains just came down and everybody started getting up all confused. We didn’t get any warning when it was about to start for the second part either so bottom line lots of disorganization and this could’ve been better arranged. Btw you do have to show your tickets up front right as you enter the theater. So last words, take a water bottle 💦 and a fan 🪭 because it’s hot and save on parking by validating. Overall location was still ok just needed some AC badly because to was raining outside and it was super cold but inside it was the complete opposite."

"My first concert here at Alex Theater. The performance was cancelled but there was no notice via email, text, smoke signal… something! It was just closed. NO note on the ticket counter to notify concert goers of the cancellation. There were a bunch of us that stood there confused. A sign or a notice at the will call would have explained the closure."

"Wow, the minute I saw the movie that I wanted to see and on my way there I purchased a ticket. It was so easy and then when I got there, the employees were great and overall it’s just such a pro operation.
I’ve been to many theaters in my life and they’re good theaters with good employees and good managers but this one was top notch.
It seems like the people really know the movie industry and I could sense that they really love the movie industry and wanted me or the other patrons to enjoy their experience along with enjoy enjoying the movie!
There is a area where you can buy some concessions and the theater itself is just fantastic. The whole building structure is phenomenal. It’s great to see this theater and I’m very grateful for the experience I had today."
